2017 Mazda3 Dashboard

Available in both sedan and a hatchback versions, the 2017 Mazda3 has been catching the attention of Shelby and Mt. Holly drivers thanks to advanced technologies like the i-ACTIVSENSE® safety suite and infotainment features like MAZDA CONNECT™. Yet another quality that sets this affordable compact car apart from its competitors is its impressive performance capabilities, developed using Mazda’s all-encompassing SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY approach. Read on to find out what the Mazda3 is able to achieve by the numbers, and then experience its power for yourself at Momentum Mazda in Gastonia, NC.

Before even discussing the actual powertrains, it’s important to understand that the entire approach to the Mazda3 starts with SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, a comprehensive system that brings together transmission, body design, chassis, G-Vectoring Control, and brake work to help deliver the most ideal combination of power, response, and efficiency. The end product is remarkable, resulting in an accessibly priced and naturally aspirated sedan and hatchback with agile driving dynamics that’s also able to achieve up to an EPA-estimated 37 mpg highway.

The Mazda3 is available with two different SKYACTIV®-G engines, both of which are offered with your choice of a manual or automatic transmission:

  • 2.0L SKYACTIV®-G – The standard engine on the Mazda3 Sport and Touring models is a 2.0L inline-four that generates 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque, getting up to an EPA-estimated 37 mpg highway with the help of Advanced Direct Injection.
  • 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G – Available on the Touring trim and standard on the Grand Touring, this 2.5L four-cylinder engine produces a confidence-inducing output of 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.

Responsive Driving Dynamics

In addition to its output, the Mazda3 also delivers a feeling of assurance at every turn with the help of an Electric Power Assist Steering system and Dynamic Stability Control, giving you an intimate relationship with the road beneath you while also promising increased traction on difficult surfaces.
