There are four trim levels to consider when looking at the Mazda CX-9, with the Mazda CX-9 Sport being the entry-level choice. When choosing this base trim, you can expect the steady, reliable performance you would get with any other trim.
The sole engine for the Mazda CX-9 is a Skyactiv®-G 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo, which produces between 227 HP and 250 HP as well as 310 lb-ft to 320 lb-ft of torque. You can select between front-wheel drive or the i-Activ AWD® with Off-road Traction Assist.
As for EPA-estimated fuel economy, this SUV will manage 22 city/28 highway MPG in the FWD setup.1
What jumps out first and foremost when moving from the entry-level trim to the Mazda CX-9 Touring trim is the improved in-cabin technology.
The Mazda CX-9 Touring trim offers both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. What these integration systems do is link your smartphone to the vehicle, giving you the chance to access music, navigation, text messages, and other applications while on the go.
The upgraded trim is also the first trim to offer an optional 2nd-row captain’s chair.
Infused within the Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring trim level is a host of practical features as well as some style upgrades.
The upgrades start with the standard Hands-free Rear Power Liftgate with programmable height adjustment—a resourceful feature that makes grocery shopping or loading your child’s sports gear much easier.
The exterior is fitted with aluminum roof rails in satin chrome finish, automatic power folding side mirrors, an Adaptive Front-lighting System, LED fog lights, and a Windshield Wiper De-icer.
The interior sees an aluminum interior trim with 2nd-row retractable window sunshades.
At the very top of the Mazda CX-9 trim level list resides the Mazda CX-9 Signature—an SUV brimming with luxury and modern amenities.
The LED grille accent lighting is a subtle but savvy touch. Inside the cabin, genuine Santos Rosewood inlays adorn the shifter surround and the door switchgear.
There’s also Nappa leather-trimmed seats in the first- and second-row outboard seating positions. Take comfort to the next level with heated second-row seats, heated and ventilated front-row seats, and a heated steering wheel!
