The Mazda CX-30 is easy to spot as it rolls around the Lincolnton, Charlotte, and Gastonia streets. With its sleek exterior design and low, athletic stance, the SUV is a true head-turner.
Keeping in the mold of other Mazda vehicles, the Mazda CX-30 also delivers esteemed performance. One of the most appealing aspects of this performance would be the Mazda CX-30 MPG rating, which will vary depending on the drivetrain you choose.
We’ve been fielding a lot of questions about the fuel economy of the 2024 Mazda CX-30 at Mazda of Gastonia, so we created this insightful overview!

The fuel economy of your Mazda CX-30 will alter slightly depending on the drivetrain you select. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is going to provide a modest uptick in efficiency, while switching to i-Activ AWD® improves traction but slightly decreases the overall efficiency.
With front-wheel drive, the Mazda CX-30 achieves an EPA-estimated 25 city MPG/33 highway MPG.1
If you i-Activ AWD®, the Mazda CX-30 delivers an EPA-estimated 24 city MPG/31 highway MPG.1
When considering fuel economy, the engine and drivetrain are often focused on primarily. However, there are other vital traits that determine how efficient any model is going to be. Fuel tank capacities and the overall curb weight of a vehicle are two other factors that come into play. For the new Mazda CX-30, you can expect a modest curb weight with a large fuel tank.
The curb weight can check in as low as 3,234 pounds, meaning the engine doesn’t have to waste fuel trying to move an excessive amount of weight. For the fuel tank capacity, FWD models offer a 13.5-gallon tank. Alternatively, models with i-Activ AWD® will give you a respectable 12.7 gallons!
The MPG rating of the new Mazda CX-30 is a clear benefit for the model, but there are other appealing performance features in play, too. For example, the base engine is punchy and delivers 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
All of the transitions between gears will be smooth thanks to the efforts of a Skyactiv®-Drive 6-speed electronically controlled sport automatic transmission. The agile drive quality of the SUV comes courtesy of an independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam axle rear suspension!
You’ll pass a lot of gas pumps while driving through Charlotte, Gastonia, and Lincolnton if you’re behind the wheel of the Mazda CX-30. It’s undeniable that the driving quality of the SUV impresses, which is why our Mazda of Gastonia staff would be happy to set up a Mazda CX-30 test drive for you!
